I was thrilled to be invited by the Fine Art Trade Guild to give a talk and art demonstration at the Spring Fair 2012 International http://www.springfair.com at the NEC.  It was quite an experience to see all the new ideas and work on show at this international Trade Fair; very inspiring.  I think I will need a couple of days there next year to take it all in!

My talk and presentation on ‘A Life in Art’ went well.  Everyone seemed to enjoy hearing about my experiences of life as an artist and all that is involved.  If only all artists had to do was paint?  Here is a photo:

It was an honour to be asked to exhibit at BBC Radio Lancashire in Blackburn in the beautiful 2026 Gallery.  I also enjoyed teaching on a few workshops during this (non selling) showcase of my work.  BBC Radio Lancashire is a busy place and it was fascinating to meet all the visitors popping in and out!

Leisure Painter Magazine

I have recently enjoyed writing for the Summer 2011 issue of Leisure Painter Magazine;on an article about painting animals and also a report on Derwent Tinted Charcoal Pencils,my new favourite medium for working from life (especially as you can add water to them!)

Here it is in progress.  You can see the two gradient meshes; one on the iris of the eye and the other to show the contours of the face.  The eyelashes and the eyebrows are made up of individual shapes….many with a nice blend to show form and direction.
