Anne Corless at BBC Radio Merseyside ‘Up for Arts’ Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Art Project get-together

Yesterday (29th April 2013) was the get-together of all the artists who took part in the project run by BBC Radio Merseyside and ‘Up for Arts’ to create artwork for a frieze to go into the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s Mobile Treatment Unit. I loved teaching the workshops at BBC Radio Merseyside and it was an honour to be asked to be the Project Designer, working with the manufacturer of the frieze (based in London). All the artwork created by our workshop artists came from the heart. It was truly very special for us all to be together and to see everyone’s artwork in the Mobile Treatment Unit.

Thank you to BBC Presenter Helen Jones, BBC Radio Merseyside and Up for Arts, Voluntary Arts UK and to everyone at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre for your enthusiastic support.

I love botanical art…..whether creating a measured drawing or a loose expressive piece of artwork and what better medium to work in than Derwent’s wonderful Watercolour pencils. I hope you enjoy the challenge of creating different types of artwork (whatever your style) on this workshop.

Anne Corless’ latest art project….working with BBC Radio Merseyside ‘Up for Arts’ and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre

Nov/ Dec 2012:
I was delighted to be invited back to run workshops at BBC Radio Merseyside on an ‘Up for Arts’ project with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. Members of the public attended three workshops and created artwork of local landmarks. The artwork was scanned in and I enjoyed designing a frieze for each side of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s new Mobile Treatment Unit, using all the artwork!

The frieze is now being printed in London and in a few weeks will be in situ. I love working on projects such as this which require my involvement as an artist in many different media….and as a designer! Our workshop attendees really put their hearts into it and came up with some truly amazing art. It was an honour to be part of it.

A big thank you to Granthams for scanning in all this wonderful artwork for me!

I love being part of the Association of Animal Artists and so when I get the opportunity to go and talk about our wonderful association….I’m there!

Thank you to Gilly (John Gillmore) for a lovely interview at BBC Radio Lancashire. We talked about the Association of Animal Artists and our up and coming AAA Annual Charity Dinner on Thursday 1st November at The Villa Country House Hotel in Wrea Green, Lancashire. We are very excited that AAA Member Pollyanna Pickering will be our guest speaker, talking about a visit to China to study and paint Giant Pandas.

Members and non-members are welcome! If you love animals and are interested in animal art and also animal conservation do please book your place to come along and meet us! See you there!

All the artwork produced over the 3 days was good. It was a fun but quite tough few sessions as there was a lot to learn….and I really was thrilled that everyone seemed to get so much out of it. From the student (talented by the way) starting art college this September to the taxi driver who spends his days drawing when he has time and just wanted to develop his artwork….there were so many lovely enthusiastic people to enjoy spending time with, helping them reach their goals.

It was quite emotional for me to return to Liverpool, the town where my father was born. He would have been very proud to know I was there……………..
