The Association of Animal Artists Inaugural Chairman’s Award was founded by Anne Corless in 2014 and ran until 2024. Sponsors of the award included Derwent, Rosemary & Co Artists Brushes, St Cuthberts Mill, The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines and Anne Corless Art Studio. The award was given to artists at different stages of their careers. "What stands out with all the winners of the award is a determination to share knowledge of their craft as artists, to raise the profile of animal art and the desire to use their artwork to help the very animals they love to create artwork of."
